Spangler Software Incredibles & FTC 2843

2010-04-17-Saturday - World Tournament - Atlanta, Georgia

We started our foray into robotics in July 2008 and in two short/long years our FTC team was part of the 2010 World Championship Winning Alliance!  We were the first pick of the #1 seed, Smoke and Mirrors, FTC 2868.  South Carolina's GForce, FTC 3864, was the third member of the alliance.

Congratulations to TechBrick, FTC 7, for their semi-final participation!  The original G-FORCE, FTC 2818, also won an invitation to the World Championship!  The Lord blessed us with friends while we were so far away from home.  He also allowed us to meet wonderful new people in Atlanta.

Our alliance - FTC 2868, 2843, and 3864 - won the tournament.  We were all very excited and a little ovewhelmed.  After winning and before the awards ceremony, teams 2843 and 3864 played on the red alliance while 2859 and another team played on the blue alliance.  With all of the pressure over, the match was even more fun.

Our mascot Suse rode on Crusader from the stadium to the trailer.  At 34.6 pounds - yes, we weighed the robot - Crusader is too heavy to carry to all of the matches, so we bought a rolling cart.  David built a platform for Crusader to prevent the wheel axles from bending during transit, both in the trailer and on the cart.  During a meeting, we were walking the autonomous path and Lydean tripped over Mary's foot.  To prevent landing on Mary, Lydean fell on the robot bending many if not all of the wheel axles.  Erik and Renee spent the next portion of the meeting replacing the axles.

We were ranked #7 at the end of qualifying rounds.  The undefeated #1 team, Smoke and Mirrors 2868, chose us as their first pick.  We enjoyed playing with them and hope to see them again in the future.  This picture shows us preparing for an elimination match.
