Workshop 2012-10-07-Sunday - Chicken Dance - Patuxent Presbyterian Church, California, MD Macarena
We dance. We just can't help it. Between matches, during technical difficulties, for time-outs, etc. It is a great way to lower tension, have fun, and stay fit. Here is one silly song that is for every age. During the refrain, lock arms with a partner and do-si-do. Swap partners to have even more fun.
This is a single-wall, 4-segment, 4-count dance with a refrain.

Close hands on beat one. Open them on beat 'one-and'. Repeat the open and close motion on beats 2, 3, and 4.

Move elbows down on beat one; up on beat 'one-and'. Repeat the down and up motion on beats 2, 3, and 4.

Move one arm forward, one backward, and start lowering the body on beat one. Swing the arms to the opposite position and lower the body more on beat 2. Repeat this for beats 3 and 4.

Clap on beat one while standing up.

Clap under one leg.

Clap behind your back.

Clap in front or, alternatively, clap under the other leg. During the refrain, link arms with a fellow dancer and do-si-do.

View the dance in motion.

Here's the dance with a new Robobee friend.
