[Lydean] One of our major sponsors, J. F. Taylor, Inc., hosts a picnic for their employees
every year. For the second year in a row, we have demonstrated at that picnic. We build
playbots for the attendees to drive and modify the game to make driving the playbots
challenging. This year we placed four homezones and four bowling balls on the field and asked
the four playbot drivers to drive down a ramp, up the ramp diagonal from their playbots, and
knock the bowling ball from the divot on that ramp.
Renee, David, Erik, and I operated the booth. Renee is now a mentor, and Erik was representing
the Robobees, FRC 836. It was a comfortable temperature that day, but the pirate clothes made
it warmer. Renee likes them too much to demonstrate without them. We always try to display
our colors with a tablecloth. Jack is sitting on a new box that Grandpa made for the team. We
painted it before World and that allowed us to transport the robot more securely.
Mostly children were driving the robots, but even the adults tried their skills. We brought
Jack to show how this past season's game was played. His lift was as tall as the garage, which
is short by World Tournament standards, but was still impressive to the picnickers.
